About the Workplace
The Survey and Geodata Unit within the Urban Planning Administration is responsible for providing, managing, and developing geographic information and survey services that support the municipality's operations, decision-making, and services.
Responsibilities
As a GIS Engineer with us, you will play a key role in developing and streamlining the municipality's geodata management and digital services. You will work with everything from data integration and system development to user-centric mapping solutions. You will become part of an engaged team where competence, collaboration, and development are highly valued. Your responsibilities include:
- Development and maintenance of GIS applications and databases to support municipal operations.
- Conducting analyses and visualizations of geographic data to support decision-making.
- Collaborating with various departments and external partners to identify needs and implement tailored solutions.
- Participating in projects and working in teams to ensure successful delivery of GIS services.
- Training colleagues and residents in the use of GIS technology and its applications.
We work extensively with open-source solutions for database management (PostgreSQL and PostGIS), server management (GeoServer), and web maps (Hajk). Support software primarily includes FME and QGIS. The municipality also uses mapping systems such as myCarta, ESPA, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications
You have a university or college education with a focus on GIS, or alternatively, other education or work experience that the employer deems equivalent. You are structured, flexible, and understand the importance of documentation.
We would like you to have good knowledge of:
- System environments and WebGIS.
- Database management, especially PostgreSQL and PostGIS.
- System integrations and map clients such as QGIS.
- FME Form and Flow.
- Web development with JavaScript.
Personal Maturity: We are looking for someone with a high degree of personal maturity, meaning you have the ability to handle different situations professionally and take responsibility for your own work.
Verbal Communication: You should have good skills in verbal communication, which is crucial for collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders within the municipality.
Structured: A structured work style is important for handling complex tasks and ensuring that projects are completed on time and with high quality.

A probationary period of 6 months may be applied.
